Chief Lance Morrison is a 1997 graduate of Ripley High School.  After high school he attended WVUP where he studied criminal justice for two years.  In May of 2000 Lance joined the United States Air Force and became a member of Air Force Security Forces. 

In late 2000, Lance was selected to become a member of the United States Air Forces Europe Special Security Squadron (Elite Guard), Ramstein Air Base, Germany.  Lance’s duties included protection for the commander and vice commander of the U.S. Air Forces Europe and the European Commanders for the Northern Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). 

In 2003, Lance was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland where he obtained a Top Secret Clearance and provided protection for Air Force One.  While stationed at Andrews, Lance was promoted early (known as “below the zone”) to become a non-commissioned officer, and while being promoted he graduated valedictorian of the U.S. Air Force Airman Leadership School.

In early 2004, Lance left the Air Force and enlisted in the W.V. State Police where he served until 2010.  In late 2010 Lance accepted the position of Chief of Police in Ravenswood where he continues to serve.  Lance currently serves on the Board of Directors for Westbrook, Jackson County Drug Court, Jackson County Schools Safety Committee, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and is a liaison officer for the WV Fusion Center.

 Lance is a graduate of the FBI National Academy class 266, representing less than 1% of law enforcement in the world.  Lance holds an Associate’s degree in Police Science, and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
